MonDev – Open Source Week Montréal, May24-28
I’m very happy announce the first ever Open Source Week Montréal! I am also excited to be on the board of organizers: Arun Kirupa, Nik Garkusha, Marc Laporte, Marc-André Lanciault, Renoir Boulanger and a host of great communities here in Montreal: WordPress, Tiki Wiki, Impress CMS, and Vanilla Forums.
What is MonDev?
Open Source Week Montréal, also known as MonDev, is a celebration of Open Source technology and community throughout the Montréal area.
Join the celebration by participating in many great events, to name a few —
- WebCom
- Make Web Not War
- GeekFest
Open Source is a philosophy and practice that is revolutionizing software development.
By encouraging local and international partnerships, Open Source developers are creating free software that can be continuously updated and shared. For many software innovators, Open Source represents the future transformation of software development.
Through Open Source, communities, cities and nations around the world are presented with the opportunity to promote and actively nurture an environment of learning, collaboration and innovation.
Montréal is an important centre of global Open Source activity and home to many software developers, projects and companies. Open Source Week will bring together industry leaders, teachers and students from around the world for a full week of activities that will include workshops, seminars and presentations.
Make sure you check out MonDev.org , we are looking for session submissions and any ideas you may have to make MonDev week amazing!

I’m not sure you can call it the first Open Source Week in Montréal, there was several event in the past related to software freedom around september, they use to culminate with the software freedom day. Good idea to do an event anyway
